Cavatelli with Italian Sausage and Broccoli

Steam chopped broccoli (about 5 minutes). When tender drain and set aside (if making a cold salad dish put in strainer and run under cold water). Meanwhile, cook cavatelli in a large pot of boiling water. Drain and cool under running cold water if making a cold side dish. Toss lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking and set aside. While cavatelli is cooking, heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage, onion, and garlic; cook 5-10 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking up sausage with wooden spoon as you cook. Set aside and let cool if making cold dish. In a big serving bowl first add cooked and cooled Cavatelli, and then cooked sausage, broccoli, chicken broth, grated cheeses, salt and pepper, and toss all together until well blended. Top with sliced black olives and roasted red pepper slices! If you would rather have this as a hot side dish or main course dinner just leave all ingredients hot and toss all together at end as mentioned.
